Maria Walker

Project Architect

Originally from Quito, Ecuador, Maria Walker has been in the US for over 20 years. She has a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan and is a registered Architect. With over 12 years of experience in Multifamily and Mixed-use developments, Maria is well versed in a wide range of project types — spanning all design phases, from start to finish. She enjoys working in a collaborative setting, passing on the knowledge she’s acquired, all while continuing to learn from her peers. Whether it is single family, townhomes or complex apartment buildings, Maria’s attention to detail and flexible nature makes her an asset for any project.

What parts of your profession are you most passionate about?

I love all of it, from starting a site plan, all the way thru seeing the projects realized.


Where do you draw inspiration?

Natural landscapes, especially high mountains.


Who is your favorite designer/architect? Why?

Santiago Calatrava for the way he integrates intelligent structures into his designs, Luis Barragan for his use of vibrant colors and light, and Enrique Norten (TEN Arquitectos) for his elegant combination of construction materials, mainly concrete and glass.

What other languages do you speak?

Actually, my first language is Spanish.


What did you want to be when you were a kid?

As a child a Stewardess, haha. As a teen a NASA engineer.


If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Why?

Japan is one of the countries on my bucket list. I find their culture, food and landscapes interesting and rich.
