Saskatoon eyes retail-heavy west side development

The City of Saskatoon is working with an American consultant to plan a new “retail power centre” on the city’s west side.

Blairmore Station — the name is tentative until approved by city council — will be situated south of Highway 14 and west of Wal-Mart’s Betts Avenue location. The development is part of the city’s forthcoming Growth Plan to Half a Million and is expected to support growing neighbourhoods such as Kensington and Elk Point, according to the city’s director of land.
